Foley is the reproduction of everyday ambient sounds to be placed into films, videos & other media - to recreate 'audio reality' on-screen, or even enhance it. Foley is a part of audio post-production.
Our foley stage holds a diverse array of props & floor surfaces to simulate various terrains. Our foley artists then dream up creative ways to recreate specific sounds synced to actions on-screen, recorded with specialised audio gear.
To capture such sonic reproductions, foley artists are keen observers, sensitive listeners, gifted visualisers & good audio engineers. They analyse footage & catalogue scenes that need foley effects which can number to hundreds or even thousands.
Final foley results are added to our sound design during post-production at Astro Sound+Vision, and to all screens big & small.
